The TREEE Program began to take shape in 2009 when Zack White, the owner/operator of the program, was working for a camp and started writing the original curriculum. In 2012, while working for a different camp, Zack revamped the program and began to completely rewrite the curriculum to fit the Common Core Standards that took effect in 2012. The new curriculum has classes that speak to every science standard for the 3rd and 5th grades. They also include standards from multiple other subject areas, the STEM initiative and anti-bullying strategies. In the winter of 2012, Zack was given the opportunity to go out on his own and start up TREEE as a separate entity and the TREEE Program LLC was created. He has an extensive background in teaching environmental education and in creating programs based on such curriculums.
